Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 3,448 with 213 new cases on Sunday
Nepal on Sunday reported 213 new Covid-19 cases, which took the national tally to 3,448. “Samples of 75 individuals from Sarlahi, 28 from Salyan, 20 from Surkhet,14 from Syagja, 10 each from Baglung, Gorkha and Kapilvastu, five each from Kailali and Mahottari, three each from Morang, Banke, Kalikot, Rolpa, Udayapur, Dailekh, two each from Dang, Jhapa, Sunsari, Siraha and one each from Dhading, Rautahat, Sindupalchowk, Dhanusha, Bardiya and Pyuthan tested positive for the virus at different laboratories across the country,” according to the ministry. On Sunday, 213 new infections are confirmed. Likewise, 323 new infections and two deaths were confirmed on Saturday, one death and 201 new cases were reported on Wednesday. 288 cases were reported on Tuesday, while 239 new cases were reported on Monday. According to the ministry, people from 71 districts have contracted the coronavirus infections. Kapilvastu has so far reported 539 cases, the highest for a district, followed by Rautahat with 401 cases while 362 cases have been reported in Dailekh. Similarly, Banke has reported 270 cases; Sarlahi has recorded 251, Jhapa has recorded 1345 cases and Salyan has so far reported 122 cases. “So far, 96,205 polymerase chain reaction tests and 145,049 rapid diagnostic tests have been carried out across the country,” said Devkota.
